Dawson is a very quiet person. He hardly converses with anyone but his closest friends, which are a select few. He prefers sitting alone in the dark to being out on the town with a huge group.
Dawson’s your average emo, a dark soul. He pretty much hates himself, and doesn’t hide it. His true feelings, however, are a little different. Seeing as he’s so quiet, nobody really knows what really goes on in his life. To put it simply, it sucks. His parents hate him, and he doesn’t get along with anyone in his family. All he needs is one person to confide in. Of course, one person he doesn’t have.
Dawson is a very mysterious person. Of course, it doesn’t help that he’s so separated from the world. When you’re alone in your room most of the time, you don’t really know what goes on outside most of the time. He won’t know it’s raining until his roommate or some random person comes into his room. He stays away from the world, not looking for more pain, and thus seems mysterious to everyone else at St. Sophia.
Secretly, Dawson is very smart. Obviously he has to be to get into St. Sophia, but he’s even smarter than everyone else thinks he is. He gets mostly A’s, except for a B or two in math classes.

Dawson was born on August 14th, 1991, to proud parents Daphne and Alex Hayes. They were so pleased with their new baby boy, and loved him to death. For the next two or three years, things were good in the Hayes household. No fighting, Dawson was growing up fine, and both parents were successful in their chosen careers. Daphne was doing great with her own business as a seamstress, and Alex was a successful surgeon at the hospital near town.
Two years later, a second child was introduced to the household. Jordan was born, as happy and healthy as Dawson had been. Dawson, in fact, was ecstatic. He was so excited to have a little brother, and loved him from the start.
Things were still good. Daphne and Alex were prospering out in L.A., making their way in the world and providing for their kids. Everything was great.
Another year later, Daphne and Alex decided they wanted another kid to complete their family. But rather than go through the harsh ordeal that was childbirth, they decided to adopt. Keiku, rescued from a harsh homeless life in Japan, was five when she was delivered to the happy parents. Dawson wasn’t as excited for a sister, especially one so close to his age, but he was still happy. If his parents were happy, he was happy.
But only two months after they had adopted Keiku, she started showing the symptoms of heart problems. The anxious parents brought her in to have her checked out, and sure enough, it was only a few months until she would be pronounced dead. Death is always harder in a child, and it was even worse when they had just gotten Keiku.
Daphne, who had always wanted a daughter (even though she still loved her boys as much as she’d love a girl), was especially devastated from the incident. Though she had to go on, her work at work [^^] was getting worse and she was always irritable at home to her husband and the boys. Life was harsh, and she just couldn’t handle it. Four weeks later, she purposefully drove her car into a lake on her way home from work, and drowned.
Only a month or so after Keiku’s death, Daphne’s hit the family especially hard. A sister one moment, then a mother the next. It was horrible. The boys were still so young, too. They’d hardly gotten to know their mom.
But there was nothing they could do about it. Life went on. Alex went back to work, and the kids returned to school. Rather than their grades slipping, they excelled more than ever. Both boys felt they had to please their mother, even in death, and live up to her memory, young or not.
Years later, this grade excelling led to Dawson’s acceptance into St. Sophia, though his brother was still in grade school. At this great news, the small family uprooted instantly and moved into a large home near the school. He isn’t happy — far from it — but everything is getting easier. Though he’s silent and withdrawn, he’s still alive, and hopes to keep it that way.
